Assessment and Communication

GingerJournal

At the start of each new school year or upon enrollment, every child will receive their very own GingerJournal. These GingerJournals are special spiral-bound books designed to facilitate daily communication about your child's day, our curriculum highlights, our conscious discipline focus, and the puppet of the week. It's a delightful way for us to keep you informed about your child's experiences.

Our dedicated teachers are committed to filling out the GingerJournals daily for each child. They serve as a window into your child's world, detailing not only their sleeping and eating habits but also sharing personal anecdotes that provide insight into their day.  Your child's GingerJournal will be placed inside or on their cubby each day, ensuring you can take it home to stay connected with their journey.

In our VPK classrooms, we utilize mini-reports to assess each child's development. These assessments occur regularly and are sent home at the end of each month, keeping you informed about your child's developmental milestones.

We look forward to partnering with you in your child's educational journey and ensuring that every day at our preschool is filled with learning, growth, and joy.

Portfolios

We are excited to share our preschool portfolio process with you, designed to celebrate your child's journey at our school. Each child will have a personalized portfolio to showcase their growth and achievements. This special collection of their work will accompany them as they transition to their new classroom each year. The incoming teacher will continue to enrich the portfolio with new samples of your child's work.

Upon graduating from our program, this treasured portfolio will make its way home to you and serve as a beautiful keepsake!

Assessments

Both two- and three-year-old children undergo Pre and Post assessments. These evaluations aid teachers in effectively implementing the curriculum by encompassing all areas and levels of learning. These include:

Language development

  • Emerging literacy
  • Math
  • Science
  • Creativity and the arts
  • Social skills
  • Physical development
  • Reasoning
  • Problem-solving

All VPK students will be assessed three times a year using the Star Early Literacy assessment. Parents will receive the results of these assessments within seven days of completion. These assessments will help teachers identify areas of strength and weakness so they can plan and implement the curriculum accordingly.

Bulletin Boards, School Boards, and TV

We want to make sure you're always up-to-date with the latest happenings and information. To keep you informed, there is a bulletin board right outside the school office. This bulletin board features important events and other essential announcements. It's important to check this bulletin board frequently to stay in the loop.

We believe in showcasing the incredible talents of our students. Inside the classrooms, you'll find more bulletin boards that display the creative works of our children. We hope you take the time to appreciate and enjoy these wonderful displays.

Want to catch a glimpse of the exciting moments our students experience throughout the day? We frequently post pictures on the TV which capture the fun and engaging activities that fill our school days. While we want to share these special memories with you, please note that these photos are exclusive to the school environment and won't be shared online or through email.
